1. Except as otherwise provided herein, articles
tendered for transportation will be refused for
shipment unless in such condition and so prepared
for shipment as to render transportation reasonably
safe and practicable. Provisions for the shipment
of articles not enclosed in containers does not
obligate the Carrier to accept an article so
offered for transportation when enclosure in a
container is reasonable necessary for protection
and safe transportation.
2. Packages must be marked durably and legibly and
must show the port of destination. All packages
must be numbered, which number together with marks
and destination must appear on the shipping
receipts and Bill of Lading.
3. Gross weight in pounds and initials of port
must be clearly and legibly shown on packages, and
on original and copies of dock receipts tendered at
time of delivery.
4. Each package, bundle or piece of freight must be
plainly marked with the full or initials of
consignee, and the destination must be shown in full
to insure proper delivery. If necessary,
corrections must be made by the shipper or his
representative. Old marks must be removed or
effaced.
